Self-help books

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
This is, so far, my favorite book that's helped me with my Anxiety. It's a workbook that has helped me understand how much of an impact my thoughts have on not only how I view myself, but how I act. It helped me discover my negative thought processes and then figure out how to change them, so they boost me up instead of drag me down.

Lost Connections
My favorite book for Depression! This book not only made me feel less alone in my struggles, but it opened my eyes to how important it is to connect with certain things around us.
Johann Hari has done an amazing job of researching and interviewing many people around the world to discover the truth about depression. He has categorized the causes of depression into nine different disconnects we tend to have and gives excellent advice on how to find those connections again.

The Gift of Failure
As I mentioned in my Discovering Core Beliefs Post, one of my biggest fears, is my fear of failure. This book is geared more to helping teachers and parents guide children towards loving failure instead of fearing it. It gave me amazing perspective on why I am so afraid of failing.

Beat Fear
Great book about facing fears. This book took me through the different types of fears there are, why we develop them and how we can learn to control them.
One thing I loved about this book was that it mentioned several times that fears are important, we just need to refine them to our advantage.

Rudy
One of the things that has gotten me through the difficult times in this process is relying on the inspiring stories of others who have overcome.
I love this story of a young boy who faced his fears and defied the odds.
